The Diamond 580 comes with a benchmark ink-filling mechanism and has all detachable parts. TWSBI feels that it is important to allow the user to disassemble and reassemble the pen and completely experience the traditional aspects of owning and using a fountain pen.
The crystal clear body and grip section allows for an unobstructed view of the ink level in the barrel, which holds almost 2ml of ink.
The clear cap is threaded and posts on the piston knob (we recommend using it un-posted), and features a silver clip. An inner cap also provides a seal when the pen is stored for longer periods of time.
The 580 is refilled by turning the piston knob counter-clockwise until the piston is at the front of the barrel, and then submerging the nib section in ink and turning it again clockwise to draw the ink into the barrel. There are no cartridges or converters!
TWSBI also includes in the box a tool to disassemble the pen and silicone grease for regular maintenance.
Note: Ink is not included with this pen.
